One should keep far away from a single phenomenon, namely, a person who tells lies;
There is no evil they will not pass through, and they will not escape the suffering of future lives.
Better to swallow a glowing iron ball, or drink molten copper when thirsty,
Than for an undisciplined person to consume the offerings of faith from others.
A person who breaks the precepts and is heedless is like a lump of meat in the country;
Without shame and without fear of sin, they later suffer the calamity of hell.
If someone fears the retribution of suffering and does not delight in painful conduct,
Let them not commit any evil deeds, which on reflection immediately produce remorse.
Doing various evils with determination, committing them oneself or teaching others to do so,
One will not escape the retribution of suffering; what is the benefit of wishing to avoid it?
Neither in the empty sky nor in the ocean, nor entering among rocks and mountains,
Nowhere in such places can one escape the calamities of past evil.
Sentient beings have distress and suffering, and do not escape old age and death;
Only the benevolent and wise can escape the sin of fetters.
