The Episode of Dṛḍhādhyāśaya has also been used as a scriptural source for the first three of the seven vajra topics (vajrapāda)⁴ in Maitreya’s Ratnagotravibhāga ()—namely, Buddha, Dharma, and Saṅgha. The prose commentary (vyākhyā, ) to the root verses, which the Tibetan tradition attributes to Asaṅga,⁵ cites the following passage from a section that describes the text’s entrustment to Ānanda near the end of The Episode of Dṛḍhādhyāśaya:
