The identification of the Dharma with the Buddha himself is expressed in multiple early canonical sources, including the Saṃyutta Nikāya (III, 120), of the Pāli sūtra canon (Suttapiṭaka), in which the Buddha states, “He who sees the Dharma, Vikkali, sees me.
