2.29

「舍利弗！如彼長者，見諸子等安隱得出火宅，到無畏處，自惟財富無量，等以大車而賜諸子。如來亦復如是，為一切眾生之父，若見無量億千眾生，以佛教門出三界苦，怖畏險道，得涅槃樂。

"Śāriputra, just as that elder, seeing that his sons had escaped safely from the burning house and arrived at a place free of fear, reflected that his wealth was immeasurable and gave great carts equally to his sons, so too is the Tathāgata: he is the father of all sentient beings. When he sees immeasurable hundreds of thousands of koṭis of sentient beings escaping the suffering of the triple realm and its terrifying, perilous paths through the gate of the Buddha's teaching, attaining the joy of nirvāṇa,
