"Unsurpassed Two-Footed Honored One,
we pray you speak the foremost Dharma.
I am the Buddha's eldest son;
pray deign to explain it analytically.
In this assembly of immeasurable beings,
they can reverently believe in this Dharma.
The Buddha has already, life after life,
taught and transformed such as these;
all with one mind join their palms,
wishing to listen to and accept the Buddha's words.
We twelve hundred,
and the others seeking buddhahood—
we pray that for the sake of this assembly,
you deign to explain it analytically.
When these hear this Dharma,
they will generate great joy."
