The Buddha told the Bodhisattva Mahāsattva Mahāpratibhāna: "This Buddha Prabhūtaratna has a profound and momentous vow: 'When my jewelled stūpa emerges before the Buddhas to hear the Lotus Sūtra, if anyone wishes to display my body to the fourfold assembly, the replicated bodies of that Buddha—the various Buddhas who are preaching the Dharma in the worlds of the ten directions—must all return and gather in one place; only then will my body appear.'"
