...from the perspective of [the sūtras], [these teachings address]: the matter of directing attention to the ālambana; the matter of striving toward it; the matter of sentient beings' abiding; the matter of abiding happily in this present life; the matter of the ālambana as the means to utterly transcend all suffering; and the matter of fully knowing that [ālambana], which consists of three aspects—namely, fully knowing the locus of error, fully knowing the locus of wrong practice regarding external sentient beings from the perspective of perceiving them as beings, and fully knowing the locus of being devoid of inner arrogance. Furthermore, there are: the matter of the locus of cultivation; the matter of direct realization; the matter of cultivation; the matter of making it the essence; the matter of its modes; the matter of its ālambana; the matter of skill in examining what has been abandoned and what has not been abandoned; the matter of distraction from it; the matter of non-distraction from it; the matter of the locus of non-distraction; the matter of elucidating the application that fully protects from cultivation; the matter of the benefits of cultivation; the matter of its stabilization; the matter of gathering noble mastery; the matter of gathering the noble faction and retinue; the matter of thoroughly comprehending that reality; the matter of genuinely attaining nirvāṇa; the matter that within the well-spoken Dharma and Vinaya, this worldly right view is the crowning summit above the right views of all outsiders; and the matter of degeneration through lack of cultivating it. For Mañjuśrī, in this well-spoken Dharma and Vinaya, degeneration occurs through lack of cultivation, but never through a fault of view. Mañjuśrī, whenever I have fully taught the pratimokṣa of the śrāvakas and bodhisattvas or what pertains to the pratimokṣa, that is the subject matter of the Vinaya.
