"Rare is the cessation of the eight unfree states; rare is the acquisition of a human existence; rare is the purity of the fortune of the opportune moment; rare is the appearance of a Buddha; rare are unimpaired sense faculties; rare is hearing the Buddha's dharma; rare is association with virtuous persons; rare are genuine spiritual friends; rare is the presentation of instructions in the genuine method; rare is a proper livelihood in the human world." [Gaṇḍavyūhasūtra 116]
