Cyclic existence itself is the prison; therein, 'the bond' is bondage, namely lust and the like—one who has this is the analysis. Even while being such a 'wretched', miserable creature, 'as soon as the awakening mind has arisen', at the very first moment of taking the vow of the awakening mind, 'he is called a child of the Sugatas'—he is designated a son of the Buddha. 'Instantly' means at that very moment. Not only this, he says: 'accompanied by humans and gods', etc. The worlds of asuras and so forth that exist along with humans and gods—even by them he 'becomes worthy of veneration', deserving of reverence and praise. By the word 'sma', which indicates past time, he has become so at the very moment the awakening mind arises.
