'Here, the earth element does not think: "I produce the solidity of the body." The water element does not think: "I perform the function of cohesion for the body." The fire element does not think: "I ripen what is eaten, drunk, and consumed by the body." The wind element does not think: "I perform the function of inhalation and exhalation for the body." The space element does not think: "I make the interior cavity of the body." The consciousness element does not think: "I am generated by these conditions." And yet, when these conditions exist, the origination of the body occurs. There, the earth element is not the self, not a sentient being, not a living soul, not a creature, not a human, not a person, not female, not male, not neuter; it is neither "I" nor "mine," nor does it belong to anyone else. In the same way, the water element, the fire element, the wind element, the space element, and the consciousness element are not a sentient being, not a living soul, not a creature, not a human, not a person, not female, not male, not neuter; they are neither "I" nor "mine," nor do they belong to anyone else.'
