As is said in the noble Sāgaramatisūtra: "When there is the retention and teaching of those syllables and verbal expressions by which that ineffable Dharma is indicated, that is called the embrace of the true Dharma. Furthermore, noble son, regarding those preachers of the Dharma who teach such sūtras and who are devoted to practical realization: serving them, frequenting them, attending upon them, rising to greet them, waiting upon them, revering them, showing them high regard, listening obediently to them, protecting them, embracing them, giving them robes, alms-food, bed and seat, and medicine and requisites for sickness, giving acclaim to them, protecting their mastery, protecting their wholesome side, speaking their praises, and concealing their faults—this too is the embrace of the true Dharma. And so forth."
