"Whosoever, Mañjuśrī, son or daughter of good family, should deprive all beings of the continent of Jambū of life and seize all their possessions; and whatever other son or daughter of good family, Mañjuśrī, should create an obstacle for a bodhisattva's single wholesome thought, or even create an obstacle for a root of wholesome virtue accompanied by giving a single mouthful [of food] even to an animal—this [second person] generates far more incalculable sin than the former. Why is that? Because an obstacle is placed before roots of wholesome virtue that give rise to the appearance of a Buddha. Whosoever, Mañjuśrī, harbors jealousy and stinginess toward a bodhisattva among other families, from that cause three fears are to be anticipated for him at that time. Which three? The fear of rebirth in hell, the fear of being born blind, and the fear of rebirth in a borderland."
