For what reason? Having generated the thought that it is a jewel, having generated the thought that it is medicine, [he reflects:] 'This Dharma leads to severing bondage. This Dharma leads to severing birth, aging, illness, death, sorrow, lamentation, suffering, and despair. This Dharma leads to the pacification of the sickness of all sentient beings. And such a Dharma must be sought by us for the pacification of the sickness of all sentient beings.'
