In the Saṃgharakṣitāvadāna, too, the harm is stated: 'Those beings you saw, Saṃgharakṣita, who had the shape of walls, were monks. They defiled a wall belonging to the Saṃgha with phlegm; by the ripening of that karma they came to have the shape of walls. Those beings you saw, Saṃgharakṣita, who had the shape of pillars, were monks. They defiled a pillar belonging to the Saṃgha with snot; thereby they came to have the shape of pillars. Those beings you saw having the shape of trees, the shape of leaves, and the shape of fruits, were also monks. They enjoyed the trees, leaves, flowers, and fruits belonging to the Saṃgha as personal property; thereby they came to have the shape of trees, leaves, flowers, and fruits. Those beings you saw having the shape of ropes and the shape of brooms, were monks. They enjoyed ropes and brooms belonging to the Saṃgha as personal property; thereby they came to have the shape of ropes and brooms. That being you saw having the shape of a basin was a novice. He was rinsing out a basin when visiting monks arrived. They saw him and asked: “Novice, will there be a beverage for the Saṃgha?” His mind afflicted by stinginess, he said: “Do you not see that the basin has been rinsed out and the beverage drunk?” Thinking, “The mealtime is over,” they fell into despair and departed, downcast and miserable. By the ripening of that karma he came to have the shape of a basin.'
