"Whosoever, Mañjuśrī, son or daughter of good family, should destroy or burn down as many stūpas as the sands of the river Ganges; and whatever other son or daughter of good family, having produced a mind of malice, obstinacy, and anger toward a bodhisattva devoted to the Mahāyāna, should scold or revile him—this [second person] generates far more incalculable sin than that. For what reason? Because the Blessed Buddhas have originated from bodhisattvas; and stūpas, all requisites of comfort, and all assemblies of deities have originated from Buddhas. By disrespecting a bodhisattva, all Buddhas are disrespected. By honoring a bodhisattva, all Buddhas are honored. One wishing to worship all Buddhas with the unsurpassed worship should worship bodhisattvas."
