The Awakening of Mahāvairocana 6.12

6.12

「復次祕密主！菩薩應當持不貪戒，於彼受用他物中不起染思。何以故？無有菩薩生著心故。若菩薩心有染思，彼於一切智門無力而墮一邊。又祕密主！菩薩應發起歡喜，生如是心：『我所應作。』令彼自然而生。『極為善哉。』數自慶慰，勿令彼諸眾生損失資財故。

"Furthermore, Guhyakādhipati! A bodhisattva should observe the precept against greed, not giving rise to defiled thoughts toward the belongings enjoyed by others. Why is this? Because no bodhisattva gives rise to an attached mind. If a bodhisattva's mind has defiled thoughts, he lacks power regarding the gate of omniscience and falls into an extreme. Moreover, Guhyakādhipati, a bodhisattva should arouse joy, thinking: 'This is what I ought to do,' causing it to arise naturally, [saying,] 'Very excellent indeed,' frequently rejoicing within himself so as not to cause those sentient beings to lose their wealth.
