At one time, the Bhagavat was dwelling in the vast vajra dharmadhātu palace through the adhiṣṭhāna of the Tathāgata, where all vajradharas had assembled. Through the adhimukti-sport and supernatural transformations of the Tathāgata, a great jewel-king tower had been produced, boundless in height and breadth, decorated with all kinds of great wonderful jewel-kings, with the bodies of bodhisattvas serving as lion thrones. The names of those vajradharas were: the vajradhara Space-Immaculate, the vajradhara Space-Stride, the vajradhara Space-Born, the vajradhara Clothed in Variegated Colors, the vajradhara Well-Stepping, the vajradhara Abiding in the Equality of All Dharmas, the vajradhara Compassionate to the Boundless Realm of Sentient Beings, the vajradhara Nārāyaṇa-Strength, the vajradhara Great Nārāyaṇa-Strength, the vajradhara Wonderful, the vajradhara Exalted-Swift, the vajradhara Immaculate, the vajradhara Blade-Swift, the vajradhara Tathāgata-Armor, the vajradhara Born from the Words of the Tathāgata, the vajradhara Abiding in the Non-Conceptual, the vajradhara Born from the Ten Powers of the Tathāgata, the vajradhara Immaculate-Eye, and the vajradhara Guhyakādhipati Vajrapāṇi. With these as their leaders, there gathered a host of vajradharas equal in number to the dust motes of ten Buddha-fields, together with great bodhisattvas such as Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, Maitreya Bodhisattva, Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva, and Sarvanīvaraṇaviṣkambhin Bodhisattva, who surrounded him before and behind as he expounded the Dharma—namely, through the adhiṣṭhāna of the sun of the Tathāgata transcending the three times, the Dharma gate of the equality of kāyavākcitta. At that time, among those bodhisattvas Samantabhadra was the leader; among the vajradharas, Guhyakādhipati was the leader. Through the adhiṣṭhāna of Vairocana Tathāgata, he displayed with swift vigor the inexhaustible adornment treasury of body; likewise, he displayed with swift vigor the inexhaustible adornment treasury of equality of voice and mind. They were not produced from the body, voice, or mind of the Buddha Vairocana, and in all places the limits of their arising and ceasing could not be found. Yet Vairocana's every bodily action, every verbal action, and every mental action, in all places and at all times, proclaimed the words and phrases of the path of mantra in the realm of sentient beings. Moreover, he manifested the bodily forms of the vajradharas, Samantabhadra, Padmapāṇi Bodhisattva, and others, universally expounding the pure words and phrases of the path of mantra throughout the ten directions—namely, fulfillment in this lifetime in progressive stages from the first aspiration to the tenth stage, wherein the karma and lifespan seeds of sentient beings born and increased through karma are eliminated, and fresh seed-sprouts arise.
