Then Vajrapāṇi addressed the Buddha: "Lord, if there are good men and good women who enter the samaya of this great king of maṇḍalas born from the womb of great compassion, how much merit will they attain?" When he had spoken thus, the Buddha told Vajrapāṇi: "Guhyakādhipati, the heap of merit of that good man or good woman is precisely equal to all the heaps of merit from the first generation of the mind up to the attainment of the Tathāgata. Guhyakādhipati, by this Dharma-gate you should know that that good man or good woman is born from the mouth of the Tathāgata, a child of the Buddha's heart; wherever that good man or good woman resides, there is a Buddha performing Buddha-deeds. Therefore, Guhyakādhipati, if one wishes to make offerings to the Buddha, one should make offerings to this good man or good woman; if one wishes to see the Buddha, one should see them." Then Vajrapāṇi and the other leading vajradharas, and Samantabhadra and the other leading bodhisattvas spoke in unison: "Lord, from this day forth, we shall reverently make offerings to these good men and good women. Why? Lord, because those good men and good women are equal to seeing the Buddha, the Lord."
