14.27

爾時諸病比丘，畏慎不敢過受食，往白佛。佛言：「自今已去聽諸病比丘過受食。自今已去當如是說戒：若比丘至白衣家，請比丘與食若餅、若[麩-夫+少]，比丘欲須者當二、三鉢受，還至僧伽藍中應分與餘比丘食。若比丘無病，過兩三鉢受持，還至僧伽藍中不分與餘比丘食者，波逸提。」

At that time, sick bhikṣus, being fearful and scrupulous, did not dare to accept food in excess, and went to report it to the Buddha. The Buddha said: “From now on, I allow sick bhikṣus to accept food in excess. From now on, the precept should be recited thus: If a bhikṣu goes to the house of a white-clothed [layperson], and they invite the bhikṣu and give him food, whether cakes or parched grain, if the bhikṣu needs it, he should accept two or three bowls; returning to the saṅghārāma, he should share it with the other bhikṣus to eat. If a bhikṣu is not sick and accepts and takes more than two or three bowls, returns to the saṅghārāma, and does not share it with the other bhikṣus to eat, it is a pāyattika.”
