「大德僧聽！冬時一月過少一夜，餘有一夜三月在。老死至近，佛法欲滅。諸大德！為得道故，一心勤精進。所以者何？諸佛一心勤精進故，得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提，何況餘善道法！」「未受具戒者已出。」「僧今和合，先作何事？」（一人應言：「布薩說戒。」）「諸大德！不來諸比丘，說欲及清淨。」

“Let the venerable saṅgha listen! One month of the winter season has passed less one night; one night and three months remain. Old age and death draw very near, and the Buddha's Dharma is about to perish. Venerable sirs! For the sake of attaining the path, single-mindedly and diligently strive with vīrya. Why is this? It is because all Buddhas single-mindedly and diligently strove with vīrya that they attained anuttarā samyaksambodhi, not to mention the other wholesome dharmas of the path!” / “Those who have not received full ordination have already departed.” / “The saṅgha is now in concord; what should be done first?” (One person should say: “The poṣadha and recitation of the precepts.”) / “Venerable sirs! For the bhikṣus who have not come, declare their chanda and pariśuddhi.”
