"Recite the spell three times; tie fourteen knots in yellow thread, tying one knot with each recitation, and tie it around the neck. The power of this dhāraṇī is entirely able to subdue and overpower: it moves mountains and cuts off streams, dries up the great ocean, and shatters the various mountains like fine dust. If the sun and moon lose their courses, it can make them proceed properly; it can avert all calamities. If the wind and rain are unseasonable, it can bring them in their proper seasons; if grains do not ripen, it can make them abundant and ripe. If neighboring states invade the borders, it can drive them all back and avert them; if ministers plot rebellion, their evil intentions will instantly perish. When the kalpa of pestilence arises, it can avert it; when epidemic demons enter the state, it can drive them away; when the kalpa of weapons arises, it can crush and extinguish it. The power of this dhāraṇī to avert calamities and eliminate monstrosities is measureless and boundless; if expounded at length, it could not be exhausted even through an exhaustive kalpa. The verses of this dhāraṇī are a dhāraṇī spell spoken by seventy-two hundred million Buddhas."
