"Brahmin! This dhāraṇī is the Sūtra for Crushing the Assemblies of Demons, spoken in unison by the Buddha World-Honoured Ones of the past, future, and present. Brahmin! When this Sūtra for Crushing the Assemblies of Demons is recited, all the palaces of the demons tremble and violently shake, greatly rocking and swaying, and all the demons each fall tumbling down from their original seats, unable to speak. Why is this? Because they have constantly worked disadvantage for many people, constantly caused suffering and affliction to many people, and caused them to lose benefit. Why is this? Brahmin! Because that good man or good woman does not commit evil actions of body, does not commit evil actions of speech, and does not commit evil actions of mind, those various painful matters do not oppress their bodies nor do they oppress their minds. Brahmin! Because of these causes and conditions, it can extinguish all suffering." At that time, the World-Honoured One, reiterating this meaning, spoke verses saying:
