Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva [said]: "I wish to expound upon four great vows. What are the four? First, to cover and nurture all sentient beings, like a bridge or ferry crossing people over untiringly; second, to contain the myriad things like the great void; third, may my body be like a medicinal tree, so that whoever smells it will have all suffering and affliction removed; fourth, may it be that when I attain buddhahood in the future, the sentient beings I cross over will be as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River. Such is the bodhisattva's vast, saving mind."
