Vajragarbha Bodhisattva said: “Sentient beings have five kinds of non-faith: first, doubting the Buddha; second, doubting the Dharma; third, doubting the Saṅgha; fourth, doubting that phenomena are real; fifth, generating doubt and lack of faith toward all true Dharmas. Sentient beings have five kinds of faith-faculties by which they can attain the way of an arhat: first, believing with certainty that the Buddha is truly awakened; second, believing with certainty and without doubt in the treasure of the true Dharma; third, believing that the bhikṣu-Saṅgha is an excellent and rich field of merit; fourth, having no doubt or confusion regarding all right practice, morality, concentration, and wisdom; fifth, not generating an attached mind upon seeing worldly affairs. These five faith-faculties can uproot the five doubts, attain the jewel-banner samādhi, and realize the Way in the present life.”
