The power of this mantra can cause a hundred Jambudvīpas, a thousand Jambudvīpas, ten thousand Jambudvīpas to shake in six ways; it can accomplish this for an entire Buddha-realm. When kings within them govern their people and affairs without moderation, neighboring countries consequently rise in armed conflict, and the devas and nāgas become enraged so that floods and droughts fall out of season. The king should at that time reprove himself and cultivate virtue, treat all under heaven with benevolence and wisdom, be lenient with his people and resources, promote good, abandon evil, be generous to sentient beings, repent with shame and conscience, and make a fresh start with the people. From this day and night onward, myriad evils will completely cease, and all kinds of goodness will gather universally; the devas and nāgas will rejoice, rain will fall in due season, the five grains will ripen, and pestilential vapors will be eliminated. The king should at that time read and recite this dhāraṇī three times each day, and his wishes will come to fruition, truly and without fail. I, Mahānāma Bodhisattva, exhort all kings.
