當以十事待新至比丘：一者當避與房。二者當給所須。三者當朝暮往問訊。四者當語國土習俗。五者當教避諱。六者當語乞匃處。七者當語僧教令。八者當語其可食。九者當語縣官禁忌。十者當語賊盜，某許可逃、某許不可逃。

One should receive a newly arrived bhikṣu with ten matters: First, one should yield a room to him. Second, one should provide what he needs. Third, one should go to greet him morning and evening. Fourth, one should inform him of the local customs of the land. Fifth, one should instruct him on taboos to avoid. Sixth, one should inform him of places to beg for food. Seventh, one should inform him of the instructions and rules of the saṅgha. Eighth, one should inform him of what food is permissible. Ninth, one should inform him of the taboos and prohibitions of government officials. Tenth, one should inform him about bandits and thieves, indicating where one may take refuge and where one must not take refuge.
