Sweeping atop the stūpa has five matters: 1. One must not wear shoes when ascending. 2. One must not turn one's back to the Buddha while sweeping the stūpa. 3. One must not take white clay from above and carry it down to discard it. 4. One should take down the withered flowers from the Buddha statues. 5. One should briefly step away to wash one's hands and return holding a clean towel.
