1.83

問：「夏中若三寶事、若疾病、種種事難，得移坐不？」答：「得。坐初當白眾，眾中受三十九日法。三十九日法已，有一事便出界三十九日。三十九日滿得還，好。若不得還，亦可於彼處受歲無犯。若坐初不受，臨行時受亦得。若坐已滿三十九日者，有事便出界，不須復受。若事不得還，亦可於彼處受歲。」

Question: "During the summer, if there are matters concerning the Three Jewels, or illness, or various difficult hindrances, may one move the retreat?" Answer: "One may. At the beginning of the retreat, one should inform the saṅgha and receive the thirty-nine-day rule among the saṅgha. Once having received the thirty-nine-day rule, if an incident arises, one may leave the sīmā for thirty-nine days. If one is able to return upon completing the thirty-nine days, that is good. If one is unable to return, one may also receive pravāraṇā at that place without offence. If one did not accept it at the beginning of the retreat, accepting it when about to travel is also permissible. If one has already completed thirty-nine days of the retreat, when an incident arises and one leaves the sīmā, there is no need to accept it again. If due to circumstances one cannot return, one may also receive pravāraṇā at that place."
