"Son of the Buddha! As for the name of the maṇi-jewel necklace bodhisattva, there is one person within the equal enlightenment lineage, named Bodhisattva Vajra Wisdom Banner. Abiding in the summit-tranquil concentration, through the power of great vows he maintains his lifespan for a hundred kalpas; having cultivated a thousand samādhis, he enters the vajra-samādhi, harmonizing with all dharma-natures, where the two truths and the single truth form one unified mark. He further maintains his lifespan for a thousand kalpas, learning the Buddha's deportment—gazing like an elephant king and pacing like a lion—and further cultivates the Buddha's immeasurable, inconceivable dharmas of supernatural transformations and guiding others. For this reason, all buddha-dharmas are directly manifest before him; he enters into the domain of the Buddha's practice, sits upon the Buddha's bodhimaṇḍa, and transcends the three māras. He further maintains his lifespan for ten thousand kalpas, manifesting as a buddha; entering the great tranquil concentration, he is equally awakened with all buddhas. Beyond the realm of the two truths, he is neither existent nor non-existent, without mind and without form, and the two habit-energies of cause and effect are without remainder. Manifesting identically to the ancient buddhas, he has only a response name, manifesting all forms and minds to transform sentient beings. Manifesting identically to all ancient buddhas, he constantly walks the middle way, in the great bliss of the unconditioned, while birth and cessation appear as different; yet in reality he is not [yet the ultimate] Buddha, but manifests the Buddha's supernatural powers while constantly dwelling in his original realm.
