阿難撰三藏訖，錄十經為一偈。所以爾者，為將來誦習者懼其忘誤，見名憶本思惟自寤，故以十經為一偈也。

When Ānanda finished compiling the three baskets, he recorded ten sūtras as one verse. The reason for this was that, fearing that future reciters and learners would forget or make errors, seeing the title they would remember the original text, contemplate it, and awaken themselves; therefore ten sūtras were made into one verse.
