難曰：迦葉以本是辟支佛，故稱其勝。此等羅漢復是辟支佛耶？答曰：雖非辟支佛，遍習滅盡定，其力是同。以是故言，迦葉、眾僧，眾生福田也。

An objection asks: Kāśyapa was proclaimed supreme because he was originally a pratyekabuddha. Were these arhats also pratyekabuddhas? The reply says: Although they were not pratyekabuddhas, they had thoroughly practiced the nirodhasamāpatti, and their power was identical. For this reason it is said that Kāśyapa and the saṅgha are fields of merit for living beings.
