4.10

江迦葉所以稱第一者，佛為說法，一心聽受，精誼入神，諸結消盡、德實內充，乃徹骨髓，故脂髓外流，狀似汗出。以是言之，心意寂然能降諸結，故稱第一。

The reason why Nadī-Kāśyapa is declared foremost is that when the Buddha preached the Dharma for him, he listened with a focused mind, his concentrated attention penetrating the spirit; all fetters melted away, and true virtue was replete within, reaching his very bones and marrow, so that marrow and fat flowed outwards, resembling perspiration. By this account, his mind was tranquil and able to conquer all fetters; therefore he is declared foremost.
