5.20

說是苦行因緣時，有無量百千眾生皆發阿耨多羅三藐三菩提心；復有無量百千人得須陀洹道乃至阿羅漢果；復有無量百千人發聲聞、辟支佛心。一切大眾，諸天龍、鬼神、人及非人聞佛說法，歡喜而去。

When this narrative of the causes and conditions of austerities was spoken, boundless hundreds of thousands of sentient beings resolved their minds upon anuttarasamyaksaṃbodhi; boundless hundreds of thousands of people attained the path of a srotāpanna up to the fruit of an arhat; and boundless hundreds of thousands of people resolved their minds upon the paths of śrāvakas and pratyekabuddhas. The entire great assembly—all the devas, nāgas, ghosts, spirits, humans, and non-humans—rejoiced at hearing the Buddha preach the Dharma and departed.
