The Buddha said to Ānanda: "When a bodhisattva diligently strives, desiring to adorn bodhi and desiring to repay the Buddha's kindness, they must always regard all sentient beings with the thought of an only child. By this cause and condition, I bypassed nine kalpas and swiftly realized anuttarasamyaksaṃbodhi."
