Possessing a wealth of marks and characteristics,
the intelligent Crown Prince
having repeatedly requested it,
Blo-gros rgyal-mtshan dpal-bzang-po,
relying on the *Smṛtyupasthāna*, the *Sūryagarbha-śāstra*,
the *Lokasthiti*, the *Abhidharma*, and so forth,
composed this treatise on the basis of them,
a treatise on what is knowable by sentient beings.
The capacities and needs [of beings] are limitless;
summarizing, they are arranged into five:
namely, the vessel, sentient beings, the path, the fruit,
together with the unconditioned dharmas and so forth.
Therefore, having now made this clear revelation,
for those who clearly understand,
it is solely this elucidation of the knowable;
having understood it oneself, one should reveal it to others.
If in the sentences and phrases of this treatise
there are errors of meaning or faults of negligence,
I also entreat the wise:
I only pray that you will patiently accept them.
May all the roots of virtue that are produced
pervade throughout the realm of space;
may I, together with all sentient beings,
aspirate to realize the unsurpassed fruit!
