Second is the meaning of omnipresence, because there is nowhere it does not reach. Third is the meaning of equality, because it is without selection. Fourth is the meaning of vastness, because it is without boundary. Fifth is the meaning of signlessness, because it is devoid of material signs. Sixth is the meaning of purity, because it is free from the defilements of dust. Seventh is the meaning of immobility, because it is without formation or disintegration. Eighth is the meaning of having emptiness, because it destroys the measurement of existence. Ninth is the meaning of the emptiness of emptiness, because it departs from attachment to emptiness. Tenth is the meaning of unattainability, because it cannot be grasped. These are called the ten. Such ten matters are distinguished by their meaning and function; with regard to their essence, there is simply no distinction. This principle of space is directly and internally realized by the two kinds of pure wisdom, being associated and coexisting without abandoning one another. Between the two kinds of space, which space is this? It refers to pure space, not defiled-and-pure space. What is the character of the distinction in literal meaning of defiled-and-pure space? The verse says:
