4.86

本曰：復次言意識者，即是相續識。依諸凡夫取著轉深，計我我所，種種妄執隨事攀緣，分別六塵，名為意識，亦名分離識。又復說名分別事識，此識依見愛煩惱增長義故。

The root text says: "Furthermore, that which is called the mental consciousness is just this continuing-consciousness. Relying upon ordinary beings grasping and attaching ever more deeply, calculating an 'I' and 'mine', various false attachments grasp conditions in accordance with objects and discriminate the six sense fields: it is named the mental consciousness, and is also named the separating consciousness. Further, it is called the consciousness that discriminates objects, because this consciousness grows based on the defilements of views and attachment."
