The commentary states: Next below is the third: the excellence of adornment. Within this there are three parts: first, explaining the general adornment; second, listing the specific adornments; third, listing the remaining adornments. This is the general adornment.
In Sanskrit it is called maṇi; here it is translated as wish-fulfilling. Since its palace is formed of priceless, wish-fulfilling divine gems, and further augmented with indranīla, mahānīla, stone-matrix, and vajra-matrix gems—four jewels of four colors, seven treasures of seven radiances—they are intermingled in adornment, with vermilion and purple reflecting each other. This general meaning expresses that the palace of the Dharma-nature is like a wish-fulfilling gem, embellished and adorned by the unconditioned myriad virtues. The palace of the reward land takes prajñā as its essence and is like that maṇi, adorned with conditioned myriad goods, which conceptually corresponds to intermingling and adorning its palace. The two great palaces are where the two bodies dwell; like wish-fulfilling gems, everything sought according to desire is obtained. The maṇi being priceless is further adorned with the seven treasures; the objective realm and wisdom being immeasurable are further adorned with the myriad virtues. This is its general adornment.
