Commentary: From here down is the third [major division, consisting of] two sections, explaining that practice attains the fruition. This is divided into two: first, the boundless and limitless ultimate dharma gate, because at the time of attaining the two fruitions it is vast, deep, of one taste, and exceedingly sublime, which is the fruitional virtue of self-benefit; and later, the profound guiding principle's unsurpassed dharma gate, after attaining the two fruitions, of benefiting both self and others, becoming the master of the three realms, and following sentient beings' wishes so that all are fulfilled, which is the fruitional virtue of benefiting others. This is the first section. Within this first section, the text has three parts: this is the first, generally indicating the title of the dharma gate expounded. In this there are also two parts: first stating what is relied upon, and later explaining its name. "Ultimate" means most supreme, primary, unsurpassed, and exhausted to the utmost limit. "Boundless" is vast; "limitless" is deep. This means to speak of the most supreme, vast, and deep Dharma of the Buddha's body. As for "the ultimate upholding of the sameness of Dharma and meaning": "ultimate" is explained as before; "up-" means relying upon, and "-holding" means to uphold; "Dharma" is the teaching of the expressing letters; "meaning" is the meaning of the expressed guiding principle. "Sameness" means similar, not different. "Adamantine" means solid and real, and able to destroy. It means the most supreme dharma gate that relies upon and upholds teaching and principle, not different, destroying saṃsāra, because both Dharma and meaning can be boundless, limitless, and so forth. Furthermore, it is "the ultimate upholding" because it upholds all the dharmas of all buddhas. Dharma and meaning are equal, concordant, and non-dual. The "adamantine dharma" is the solid, real dharma gate that is able to destroy saṃsāra.
