1.157

述曰，此第二文也。無著、天親隨義如前科判，謂說若有於此經句生一念信，尚曾供養無量諸佛，況起多念？乃至受、持、聽聞等者，曾集善根更多也；若生實想者，曾善又多也。何故爾耶？謂雖於此生一念信熏習在身，當來成熟，能破無量廣大生死故也。

The commentary says: This is the second passage. The outlines according to Asaṅga and Vasubandhu follow the meanings as categorized above. It states that if there is someone who gives rise to faith for even a single thought-moment regarding the sentences of this sūtra, they will have already made offerings to immeasurable Buddhas; how much more so if they give rise to multiple thought-moments? Even more roots of goodness will have been accumulated by those who receive, uphold, listen to, and hear it; and if they give rise to the notion of reality, their previous goodness is greater still. Why is this so? It is because although one gives rise to only a single thought-moment of faith regarding this, its perfuming remains in the body and, maturing in the future, can destroy immeasurable, vast saṃsāra.
