Asaṅga's commentary states that this is the eighth [differentiation], maturing sentient beings; it is also the fourth [factor] among the abodes free of hindrances, being free of the hindrance of abandoning sentient beings. Hence this means: although the Tathāgata knows that not grasping outward appearances is called being free of minor cognitive objects, yet his reward body is vast and measureless; the asura king Rāhu is as large as Mount Sumeru, and great sentient beings cannot even see his form, let alone small sentient beings of the desire realm. Were it so, the Tathāgata would have abandoned sentient beings without delivering them. For this reason, there is this passage.
