1.50

述曰，第二、明別由致也。此文有十：一、明化主謂「世尊」，二、辨化時謂「食時」，三、彰衣服謂「著衣」，四、顯執器謂「持鉢」，五、陳化壤謂「入舍衛大城」，六、明求膳謂「乞食」也，七、辨均普謂「於其城中次第乞已」，八、彰攝化謂「還至本處」，九、顯濯足謂「飯食訖，收衣鉢，洗足已」，十、陳安住謂「敷座而坐」。

The commentary says: Second, clarifying the particular circumstantial occasions. This passage has ten points: 1. clarifying the master of conversion, namely 'the Bhagavat'; 2. distinguishing the time of conversion, namely 'when it was mealtime'; 3. indicating his clothing, namely 'put on his robe'; 4. showing his holding of the vessel, namely 'took up his bowl'; 5. describing the ground of conversion, namely 'entered the great city of Śrāvastī'; 6. clarifying the seeking of sustenance, namely 'to beg for food'; 7. distinguishing the universality and impartiality, namely 'having begged successively from house to house within that city'; 8. indicating the gathering-in of conversion, namely 'returned to his original place'; 9. showing the washing of feet, namely 'having finished eating his meal, he put away his robe and bowl, washed his feet'; 10. describing the peaceful abiding, namely 'prepared his seat, and sat down'.
