2.265

述曰，此第二文也。於中初、成無實度，次、說我非真，此初也。謂如來若說實有眾生實可度者，是則我執未亡，不名為佛也。

The Commentary says: This is the second passage. Within it, first, he establishes that there is no real delivering; next, he explains that the self is not real. This is the first. That is to say, if the Tathāgata were to say that there are really sentient beings that can really be delivered, then attachment to self would not have been eliminated, and he would not be called a Buddha.
