Tradition says that our Tripiṭaka Master was a later rebirth of Sadāprarudita Bodhisattva. Truly one can believe this of his resolution—his longstanding aspiration to break his bones and draw out the marrow, forgetting his physical frame to sacrifice himself for the Dharma, entrusting himself to destiny and praying for passage! His translation of the various scriptures concluded with this teaching. Through this, auspicious omens were greatly manifested; and when he ascended on high, he also passed away while reciting the true text. That he had a great karmic connection to the Prajñā[pāramitā] and uniquely attained its central purport can already be seen. And toward this scripture, he paid the greatest attention.
