Asaṅga says: "In this purification of cognition, it is said that the abiding of mind is non-abiding of mind; likewise, in the purification of seeing, why is it not said that the eye is non-eye? Because there is a single abiding-place (ādhāra), after the purification of seeing and cognition the ultimate truth is established, so the initial is also accomplished." [Master Kui]ji says: The mind of an ordinary person is initially deceptive and can later become true; therefore in the purification of cognition it is said that the abiding of mind is non-abiding of mind. Once the Buddha eye is attained, it is completely perfect and never undergoes any later modification or distinction; therefore it is not said that the eye is non-eye. In its meaning, the treatise text is difficult to understand.
