The Commentary says: Vasubandhu states that this is the second [part], comparatively measuring [it] with receiving and upholding. This sūtra is slightly abridged; other versions differ from this. Vasubandhu states: Although this teaching is said to be indeterminate, it can attain bodhi, because apart from the spoken teaching, one cannot attain great bodhi, and because this teaching can serve as a cause for bodhi. Furthermore, as for saying it is indeterminate: this is not so! In your tradition it is indeterminate, but in our tradition it is wholesome; this is an explanation according to their school, [whereas in ours] the Buddha's words are wholesome. Moreover, according to the Mahāyāna doctrine, once Buddhahood is attained, sounds, names, and sentences are all wholesome; therefore, as soon as one receives and upholds it, it becomes a vast cause for bodhi, surpassing giving immeasurable other precious jewels. This directly refutes the previous doubt.
