Asaṅga says: '"Cannot be grasped" refers to the very time of hearing; "cannot be spoken of" refers to the very time of speaking. "Not dharmas" is because of the conceptualized nature; "not non-dharmas" is because of the principle of the selflessness of dharmas.' The commentary says: 'Those dharmas are neither dharmas nor non-dharmas, which is spoken in reliance upon the meaning of tathatā. "Not dharmas" is because all dharmas lack essence and characteristics; "not non-dharmas" is because the real mark of tathatā's selflessness exists. Why only speak of preaching and not of realization? Because where there is preaching, the meaning of realization is thereby established; if one has not realized, then one cannot preach.'
