八、斷持說未脫苦果疑。論云：「向說捨身苦，身果報故福劣。若爾，依此法門持說諸菩薩行，苦行亦是苦果，云何此法不成苦果？」○斷之文二：初、明超忍以斷疑，二：○初、明忍體。

8. Severing the doubt that upholding and expounding [the teaching] does not escape karmic suffering. The Treatise says: "Earlier it was said that giving up the body is suffering, and because it is a physical retribution, its merit is inferior. If so, then practicing the bodhisattva deeds by upholding and expounding according to this Dharma-gate, ascetic practice is also an effect of suffering; why would this Dharma not become an effect of suffering?" [The section] severing this has two parts: first, explaining surpassing patience to sever doubt, which has two parts: first, explaining the substance of patience.
