"Manifested in sixteen assemblies": Now, the classes of prajñā [texts] consist of eight divisions, namely: the Large Chapter, the Small Chapter, Emitting Light, Praising the Light, Practicing the Path, Suvikrāntavikrāmi-paripṛcchā, Mañjuśrī's Inquiries, and the Vajracchedikā. The Tang translation comprises six hundred fascicles and two hundred and seventy-five chapters, making sixteen assemblies in total. The first five have no [special] titles; the latter eleven assemblies have titles. The first six are divided into chapters; the latter ten are not divided into chapters. That is to say: the first assembly has seventy-nine chapters; the second assembly, eighty-five chapters; the third, thirty-one chapters; the fourth, twenty-nine chapters; the fifth, twenty-four chapters; the sixth, the Suvikrāntavikrāmi-prajñā Assembly, seventeen chapters; the seventh, the Mañjuśrī Assembly; the eighth, the Nāgaśrī Assembly; the ninth, the Vajracchedikā Assembly; the tenth, the Prajñānaya Assembly; the eleventh, the Dāna-pāramitā Assembly; the twelfth, Pure Morality; the thirteenth, Patience; the fourteenth, Diligence; the fifteenth, Meditative Concentration; and the sixteenth, Prajñā. Thus, the Da mingdu wuji jing in four fascicles corresponds to the first five assemblies; the Rushou pusa wushang qingjing fenwei jing in two fascicles corresponds to the ninth assembly; the Shixiang bore corresponds to the tenth assembly; the Daoxing and the Xiaopin in ten fascicles each correspond to the fourth assembly; the Guangzan in ten fascicles, the Fangguang in thirty fascicles, and the Dapin in thirty fascicles all correspond to the second assembly. Now, whether these various editions expand or combine the great divisions, their textual momentum, sequence, events, and principles are entirely identical; they differ only in being extensive or abridged. Only the single text of the Renwang [bore jing] is not among the eight divisions.
