1.88

前四句即但不符聖旨，別作意度不得圓暢，雖非邪僻亦名謬解。後二句胸談臆注正是邪謬。前言心通者少、不通者多，此之三類即是不通之相也。此前兩家皆先敘因，然後結過。

The first four phrases merely fail to accord with the sage's intent, fabricating idiosyncratic conjectures without attaining complete fluency; though not heterodox and deviant, they are still called erroneous interpretations. The latter two phrases—speculating from the heart and commenting on whim—are truly heterodox errors. Previously it was said that those whose minds penetrate are few and those who do not penetrate are many; these three categories are precisely the signs of non-penetration. Both of these previous two masters first state the causes and only then conclude with the faults.
